Kai Cenat Details the Journey Leading Him to Participate in the Dᴜnk Contest Alongside Boston’s Jaylen Brown

Even though Jaylen Brown of the Boston Celtics didn’t secure victory in the 2024 NBA Slam Dunk Contest, his performance left a lasting impression. His dunks were not only a tribute to basketball history and the late Terrence Clarke but also involved collaboration with one of the internet’s prominent personalities. Kai Cenat, a well-known YouTube streamer recognized for his comedy, pranks, and live streams, boasts a substantial online following, making him a significant celebrity. Celtics Wire had the opportunity to speak with Cenat before the 2024 All-Star Game, delving into his experience of teaming up with Brown on the court during the dunk contest.

During the Dunk Contest, Cenat played a central role in Brown’s second dunk, where he was seated in a chair in front of the hoop. Brown, orchestrating the dunk, caught a lob from teammate Jayson Tatum, dunked over Cenat, and concluded with a nod to Dee Brown. Despite his involvement being to sit still, Cenat found himself at the heart of the slam. When asked about his role in the creative process, Cenat revealed that Brown took the lead in planning and organizing the dunk, and Cenat simply followed Brown’s instructions with a smile.
