Mavericks Lost to Celtics in NBA Finals Opener: Luka’s 30 Points Not Enough to Overcome Boston

The Dallas Mavericks dropped Game 1 of the NBA Finals to the Boston Celtics 107-89 on Thursday night.

Luka Doncic led the Mavs with 30 points, but Dallas struggled offensively outside of him, managing just 9 assists on the night.

The Celtics came out firing, outscoring the Mavericks 44-16 in the second quarter to take a commanding lead. Kristaps Porzingis, returning from a month-long absence due to ιnjury, provided a spark off the bench with 20 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 blocks in 21 minutes. Boston’s hоt shooting and balanced scoring аttаck (6 players in double figures) overwhelmed the Mavs.Dallas cut the deficit to 8 points in the third quarter but Boston quickly pulled away again.

Kyrie Irving struggled for the Mavericks, finishing with just 12 points and facing boos from the Boston crowd throughout the game.

The Celtics looked sharp despite a 10-day layoff, connecting on 16 three-pointers and displaying good ball movement. They will look to build on their lead in Game 2, while the Mavericks need to find a way to generate more consistent offense outside of Doncic.
