Manchester City ended their pre-season tour of the United States in style with a convincing 4-2 victory over London rivals Chelsea. A packed Ohio Stadium witnessed a goal-fest as both teams showcased attacking intent ahead of the new season.
The highlight of the match was undoubtedly Erling Haaland’s hat-trιck. The Norwegian striker was in unstoppable form, bagging two goals within the opening five minutes to set the tone for the game.
Oscar Bobb added a fourth for City to put the game beyond doubt.
While Chelsea managed to pull two goals back through former City man Raheem Sterling and Noni Madueke, it was too little too late for the Blues. City’s goalkeeper, Stefan Ortega Moreno, also impressed with a couple of crucial saves.
The win over Chelsea provides a perfect boost for Pep Guardiola’s side as they prepare to face Manchester United in the Community Shield next Saturday.
