Manchester City’s Erling Haaland has responded to Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella’s playful taunt with a dose of his own wit.
After a dominant 2-0 victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, Haaland was asked about Cucurella’s infamous chant during Spain’s Euro 2024 celebrations. The Spaniard had aimed a playful dig at the Norwegian striker, but it seems Haaland has enjoyed the last laugh.
The City sensation revealed that Cucurella had requested his shirt last season, only to turn around and compose a song about him this summer. With a characteristically cool demeanor, Haaland stated, “Well, Cucurella is a funny man. Last season he asked for my shirt… and this summer he sings a song about me.”
Haaland’s performance on the pitch, which undoubtedly overshadowed the off-field banter, was a clear statement of intent. As the Premier League season kicks off, it seems the bаttle between these two players could be a recurring theme.
