Manchester City were held to a 1-1 draw by Newcastle United in a thrilling Premier League match at St James’ Park on Saturday.

The Magpies started the game brightly, pressing City high up the pitch and creating a number of early chances. However, City gradually grew into the game and began to dominate possession.

In the 32nd minute, City took the lead through Josko Gvardiol. The Croatian defender scored his first goal for the club with a neat finish from close range.

Newcastle responded well to going behind and continued to press City. They were rewarded in the 56th minute when Anthony Gordon equalized with a powerful shot from outside the box.

City pushed for a winner in the closing stages but were unable to find a breakthrough.
