In her caption, the Grammy winner discussed the challenges her family faced, including how building management refused to give them a two-bedroom apartment simply because Alicia was a girl. She shared how the one-bedroom home was often a shared space between her and her mother, alternating who got the room.

Memories: 'Wow! This is the one bedroom apartment that my mother raised me in! Apt #11-L. I¿ll never forget,' she wrote

Every Christmas, Alicia and her mom would decorate the tree in their cozy living room, with the sounds of jazz albums playing on their record player. Alicia fondly remembered the excitement of receiving roller skates as a gift and eagerly looking forward to skating in the streets of New York City.

Toward the end of her post, Alicia expressed love and appreciation for her younger self, acknowledging how that part of her still keeps her filled with wonder and curiosity.

Tough: The Grammy Award winner explained the reason for why the management would not give the family a bigger place: 'The building wouldn¿t give us a 2 bedroom cause I was a girl'

Her incredible journey from humble beginnings to a life of luxury with husband Swizz Beatz is inspiring. Today, the couple resides in a stunning mansion, famously known as the Razor House, which they purchased for over $20 million in 2019 after dreaming about it for years.

New York native: The superstar continued in reference to a photo of her opening a gift that contained roller skates: 'I¿ll never forget those roller skates. I was dyin¿ for them so I could skate on those hard concrete New York City Streets!!'

Now called “Dreamland,” the home, designed by Wallace E. Cunningham, was the inspiration for Tony Stark’s futuristic residence in Iron Man. Alicia and Swizz, with the help of interior designer Kelly Behun, have transformed it into a welcoming and warm space for their family.

In reflecting on their home, Swizz mentioned their goal of creating a warm atmosphere that represents the diverse cultures they’ve experienced in their global travels, despite the sleek, modern design of the house. The couple, who share two sons, are focused on fostering a nurturing environment for their children.

Full of wonder: She wrapped up her post writing, 'Awww look at lil Alicia. I send that girl such big love. I thank her for still living in me and keeping me full of wonder and curiosity!'
