Liverpool’s defeat to Plymouth could be ‘beginning of the end’ for manager Arne Slot

Liverpool’s shock FA Cup defeat to Plymouth Argyle could be a “breakdown” or “the beginning of the end” for manager Arne Slot, says Kelly Cates.

Liverpool were surprisingly beaten 1-0 by Championship side Plymouth in the fourth round of the FA Cup. Manager Arne Slot has been heavily criticised for dropping a number of key players and playing substitutes and young talent.

After Liverpool’s shock defeat, ‘Match of the Day’ co-host Kelly Cates felt the Reds had really slipped up in the game.

She even said this could be where things start to go wrong for Dutchman Slot at Liverpool.

She told The Sports Agents podcast: “It was a really disappointing performance. I think it’s either the blip in an otherwise great season or the beginning of the end, and it’s going to be marked as the turning point of the whole season!”.

While Liverpool’s early exit from the FA Cup was a shock, Slot has done a remarkable job so far. His team are top of the Premier League, flying high in the Champions League and have reached the Carabao Cup final. It seems the beginning of the end is not yet in sight for the former Feyenoord boss.

Liverpool will be looking to bounce back from their defeat to Plymouth when they face cross-town rivals Everton at Goodison Park in the Premier League on Wednesday.
